A Trip to Ooty - Part I

A Trip to Ooty - Part I

Last weekend we had a long weekend Friday being Ugadi followed by Sat and Sunday. Me and and my husband just planned for a trip to ooty and thus went for a 2 day trip to Ooty and Coonoor.

Ooty is also known as ootacamund ir udsagamandalam is located in the mountains of Nilgiri and is positioned at an attitude of 7500 feet from sea level and is approximately 300 kms from Bangalore by Road.

We dint get any cab as we decided to go to ooty at the very last time. Finally My hubby decided to drove car from Bangalore to Ooty.

Day 1: March 24,2012:

The Trip to Ooty was decided just like that. So in the morning my husband just googled the searah and we decided to take the route and the route that we decided to took was Bangalore->Mysore->Bandipur>-> Mudumalai >Ooty.
Mysore ia approx 170 Kms from Bangalore. As today was the first day of Navratri, so we need to Puja and both were on fast. After Completing our Puja and daily stuff. We started from our Home at 01:00 P.M.  From the place where we live, we have a NICE Road that connects to Mysore. So we decided to take that route so as to avoid the hassle of Traffic conditions.Soon we we left the city and we were in the highway. We took 45 minutes break in Mysore as my hubby was tired of driving. Then our next destination was BANDIPUR (which is a forest area).

Bandipur is a National Park which is approx 80 KM  from Mysore. We reached Bandipur near about 5 or 5:30 P.M.Soon we both crossed Bandipur forest and entered the forest area of Mudumalai which is also forest area in Tamilnadu. So we were in Tamil nadu Nadu. it was getting dark and till now we didn't crossed the GHATS. It was almost 6:00 t0 6:30 P.M. when we entered Ghats.

The Ghat section starts soon after we complete Mudumalai Forest. As we moved further in the Ghats Section the air become thinner and cooler. It was getting dark so we decide on our way back to Bangalore. we will hault at this places.

Finally we reached Ooty around 08:00 P.M. in the night. We have never been to Ooty before. For both of us it was out first visit. Then we drove us to a Hotel name "Ganghotri". It was quite decent. We booked the room. We both were very hungry as we both was on fast. So We ordered Fruit salad and two cups of Tea.
We had that and my hubby was very tired because of hours of driving. So we decided to take a rest and start our trip from next day.

Sau janam ka saath apna,

I am read this poem on the Net and i Liked it. So i want to dedicate this poem to my Lovely Husband

Sau janam ka saath apna,
Sans ka dhadkan se jaise,
Aas ka jeevan se jaise,
Kaise kate saal solah,
Shyam ki jogan ke jaise.
Jhoot ke parde na dhoondo,
Sach kaho na .
Kuchh kaho na ..

 Ek dooje ke liye ham,
Haath main kangan ke jaise,
Pyaas main sawan ke jaise,
Roop ko darpan ke jaise,
Bhakt ko bhag_van ke jaise.
Jheel si simtee na baitho,
Kuchh baho na .
 Kuchh kaho na ..
Jaanata hoon thak gayee ho,
Umr ke lambe safar se,
Saanp se dasate shahar se,
Aas se aur aansuon se,
Bheed ke gahare bhawanar se.
Waqt firata hai suno,
Itna daro na .

Kuchh kaho na ..

 Kis tarah ladatee rahi ho,
Pyaas se parchhaiyon se,
Neend se , angadaiyon se,
Maut se aur zindagi se,
Teej se ,tanahaiyon se.
Sab tapasya tod dalo,
Ab saho na
Kuchh kaho na !!

Panchatantra Stories

Panchatantra Stories

Hello Friends this month for my this blog I have decides Every day I will Write about some Famous Bed Stories that a mother can tell their Childen. So what better than to start with some famous Panchatantra  stories.

We all have grown up by hearing these stories from our grandparents. These all stories have moral in them. But in this era in metros or big cities children are grown by maids as mom and dad are working. These children met their mom dad only in evening. So at the bed times at least mom can recite these short bed stories to their small one.

Panchatantra is a Sanskrit word which means "Five principles." The original Sanskrit text of "Panchatantra" was written by Pandit Vishnu Sharma

The Panchatantra stories are fables based mostly on animals which always end with a moral. The Panchatantra is the oldest collection of Indian fables surviving today. Panchatantra, consists of five books of animal fables and magic tales. Each of these stories have a moral that continues to be relevant to this day. The five principles are :

  1. The Loss of Friends
  2. Gaining Friends
  3. Causing Dissension Between Friends
  4. Separation
  5. Union

SAKAT CHAUTH VRAT KATHA

Sakat Chauth

Sakat Chauth

As usual this was going to be mine first Sakat Chauth after my Marrige. I have observed my mom and my sister who observe this Vrat. Due to which i was having a little Idea about this Vrat. But I was afrais as this is going to be mine my sakat Chauth so there should not be anything which I should do wrong during this Vrat. So I collected all the informations from my Mom,sister and in-Laws and now I am all ready to observe  this Vrat on 12th JAN,2012. so I decided to write a brief on this Vrat in my blog. So that from the coming Years I can do this Vrat in coming Years also.

Sankata-haaraa Chaturthi falls every month on the Chauth (fourth day) after Poornima (Full Moon day) means it is Krihna Paksh Chaturthee. Sankat means trouble, an Haaraa means to take it off. So by keeping fast on this day all kinds of problems are removed. This year Shakat chouth Vrat is on 12th JANUARY, 2012.

This is also called as Ganesh Chauth,Mahi chauth or Tilkuta Chauth. In this day Lord Ganesh and and Moon is worshied. This Vrat is done by a married women for a better future body strength, Good-fortune, and wealth for the children
It is believe in UP and MP that every Married women should do atleast 2 Chauth . Mine fist was “Karva Chauth” and the second in “Sakat Chauth”.

Method of Poojaa

  • In the morning, after your daily cores, take bath Do your morning prayers. Recite "Om Ganeshaaya Namah", "Om Vakratundaaya Hum". This is called Ganesh Ashtottar.
  • During the fasting period, Water, Milk,Fruits and Tea are permitted.
  • In the evening, like you do for any Vrat, make a Mandap and place a photo of Lord Ganesh.
  • Decorate the photo of Lord Ganesh with available flowers.
  • offer Durva ( Doorva - grass (creeper)) with 3 or 5 nodes to the Lord Ganesh and keep somw Doorva Grass aside to worship the Moon.
  • Light Diyaa (lamp) and Agarbattee (incense stick) and
  • Offer til ke Ladoo (seaseme seeds made with Jaggery and Seaseme seeds),Sweet Potato, Jaggery. This is known as  Naivdya.
  • Now in the end do the Arati. Sing the song Jaya Ganesh, Jaya Ganesh, Jaya Ganesh Devaa... and ask for his blessings.
  • After this the moon should ne worshiped with Til (Seaseme Seeds) and Arghya (Offeringby milk and water mixture).
  • Moon-god and Rohini are also worshipped. At night, after the moonrise, the fast is broken after offering the moon, the sacred water called "Arghya". It has a related legend which claims that it was the great sage Markandeya who advised a dethroned king to keep fast on this day to regain his lost glory. He did so and everything was well for him.
  • Regarding Moon rise - sometimes due to the clouds etc, the Moon may not be visible at the specified time. In that case after the Moon rise timings one may perform the Poojaa.

A Lovely Poem dedicated to my husband

Hi
I don't know why but today i am missing my hubby a lot. I want to dedicate this Poem especially to him and want to tell me how much I love him & want to spent my rest of my life with him.

I said a prayer for you today.
I just took a moment to say,
With heartfelt thankfulness,
How much I know I’m blessed
With the love so deep and true
That I receive from you.
It may not always show,
But darling, I always know
That God gave you to me
And I will ever be
A grateful, loving wife
All throughout my life.
I love you with all my heart
And we will never part.
I know this love will last.
And so a day will never pass
In which I cannot say:
I said a prayer for you today.

Mumbai Life

Mumbai

Mumbai as we all know is called as “City of Dreams”.  I have heard a lot about Mumbai but never Visited. Except me all my family members have visited Mumbai. Due to this I was more excited to vist and see Mumbai. When my marriage was fixed and I heard my fiancé is working in Mumbai, I was very happy coz I thought now atleast I can visit Mumbai. But my hope and dream were shattered when my Husband got an Opportunity in Infosys for Pune Location. But he asked the company his Preferred location as Bangalore so that I don’t have to change my work.
So after coming to Bangalore he was not liking Bangalore. You tell me who will love Bangalore if he stays 6 Years in Mumbai. So this Year during Diwali we both were having 1 week Holiday as my hubby was missing Mumbai. So we decided to go Mumbai during that Period.

To my surprise I reaaly loevd Mumabi. For Mumbai people says” It fulfills everyone.s dream and accepts everyone with open arms”. I had stayed in Mumbai only for 5 days but I loved the place. Few things that I noticed about this city want to share with you all:

1)      Place you stay: has to be as close to your office as possible. Coz if its not there we can  land up spending a lot of time commuting.
2)      Size of houses: we had stayed in Mumbai in his friend home. It was 1 BHK But it was too small. You cant have extra furniture
3)      House Rent: House rents are huge in Mumbai. The rent for 2 BHK what we pay in Bangalore in Mumbai we pay for 1 BHK.
4)      The city is divided vertically : Mumbai is divided into Western Mumbai, Central Mumbai and Eastern Mumbai.
5)      The city does not sleep : In Bangalore or Delhi I have found that staff in hotels, pubs, malls are closed by 11:00 A.M. and people enjoyed their stay in home. But in Mumbai people step out for shopping at 11:00 P.M. in the night
6)      Drinking/Eating places may not actually be very expensive Unlike a Bangalore and Delhi where mostly restaurants, which are quite expensive. In Mumbai food is reasonably priced
7)      Safety: As Comparison to Delhi , Mumbai is much safe for girls. I have found many womens and girls traveling alone in Locals at 12:00 midnight
